Episode 38 Are You Willing to Get Messy?

Ministry can be and often is messy. It's often physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting. Why do we do it? Because of our love and obedience to Jesus. 

In this episode, Nicole shares an impactful passage she found that discusses two people who had a lot to lose in terms of their political and religious status at the time.  DJ and Nicole discuss the costs of these two people burying Jesus and how it can impact their own and others' ministry work. 

Numbers 19:11 ESV
“Whoever touches the dead body of any person shall be unclean seven days.
He shall cleanse himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, and so be clean. But if he does not cleanse himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not become clean."

John 19:38-42 ESV
 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body. 39   Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight. 40  So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41  Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42  So because of the Jewish day of Preparation,  since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
